Ok, not entirely biblical, but I thought it was a great perfomance by all.

The thing on NBC? I was in a bar, and the sound was off, but it looked creepy.

It was done very well.

It was great until I caught up with the DVR. Then it was commercial after commercial.

As I watched I wondered if Millenials even knew what it was.

John Legend and Alice Cooper (who is a devout Christian) it was an interesting performance, and done live, was quite impressive...

Saw the show back in the 70s when it originally came out. Still have the LP too. :)

I’ll have to check it out if it is on-demand.

The elaborate production overwhelmed the story. I’ve decided I like the minimalist productions os JCS better.

I always think of Archie Bunker. He had gone to a protest to get meathead and had gotten arrested. In the cell a hippie walked up to him and asked “Do you know Jesus?”

Archie said “Yeah, I know Jesus. And I knew Him a long time before you freaks came along and made a superstar out of him.”

Actually it was “Jesus, I dig. And I dug him a long time before you freaks turned him into a superstar.”

:-)
Archie, never thinking twice about who he might offend.
Missed JCS, but did watch “The Ten Commandments” on This TV Saturday evening. It was the original with Charlton Heston.
Before Hollyweird begin to offend us.

“Yeah, I know Jesus. And I knew Him a long time before you freaks came along and made a superstar out of him.”

That's how I felt when the play, album and movie were being talked about by the "Mod Crowd"(metro sexuals of the 60's). I was 12-15 years old then... by the time I was 18, I knew everything!

I enjoyed it when it came out - have the soundtrack and occasionally listen to it.

Yeah...DVR saved it.
No...most millennials don’t have a clue.
The audience sucked. They were way more into celebrity worshipping than the actual production. Going gaga whenever a star appeared almost ruined the whole thing.
Alice Cooper had NO energy. Sad. Every other “Herod” I’ve ever seen did a far better job. Not that his was awful, just that he looked bad in comparison.
Pontius Pilot actor was fantastic as was Mary/Sara Bareilles.
Some of John Legend’s performance was gut wrenching.
The audio production was incredibly bad in most scenes.

No, it’s not 1970-71. Nearly a half century later, I finally have the same perspective that Billy Graham had at the time: The silly, overblown navel-gazing by two foppish Brits misses the most important part of the story, that of the Resurrection and the redemption of the world from sin.

It was extremely good, although I am not sure why there were so many blacks.

But after you hear Ian Gillian do JC everyone else falls short.
