yes rabies first thought. Distemper is another possiblilty, common in raccoons and will cause similar symptoms. In both cases people and pets, livestock need to be kept away from the raccoons. We are allowed to dispatch them hre and have them tested for rabies.

My first thought too. Coons aren’t exclusively nocturnal though as article states. I’ve seen them many times go after chickens in broad daylight. They are creatures of opportunity.
