Don't like Patrick Reed winning the Masters? Deal with it
Yahoo ^ | April 8, 2018 | Dan Wetzel

Patrick Reed had two putts for par, two putts on the 18th green, two putts to win the Masters. He was sitting at 15-under, he had held Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and everyone else off for going on three days. He was 24 feet away with an opportunity to lag it, then tap it, then slip on a green jacket.

The throng around the 18th here at Augusta National sat politely but when his first putt slipped by the hole leaving him a slightly tricky 4-footer, they began a murmur that built into a consensus, not of dread that he might blow this, but rather what sounded like hope that he might.

Know this about golf fans, they are lap dogs. They cheer for everything and everyone. If a guy makes a great shot, they clap, even if it adversely effects the guy they are rooting for to win. That’s the sport. It’s even more polite here at Augusta, where if when someone is about to win a major – even a relative unknown such as Charl Schwartzel or Danny Willett – they rain down thunderous applause.

Johnson failed three drug tests (for cocaine) in five years, and had affairs with the wives of two fellow players on the pro tour.

DJ seems barely capable of putting a sentence together. I guess the women dig the strong silent type.

His “defense” of his Masters title was shameful.

Hey, any player duffer or pro, can put a ball in the water. Or five....

I am curious. Why do people(yourself and many others) dislike Bubba Watson so much?

I am a casual pro golf observer. Know most of the players, but do not follow it that closely.

I watch a lot of golf on TV. I for one, am sick and tired of seeing Ricky Fowler on practically every damn commercial.

For a player without a major and indeed, not very many regular tour wins, he certainly gets a lot of endorsements. Is it his squeaky clean image?

Arnold Palmer, backed by Arnie’s Army, was immensely popular in the 1960’s A lot of people resented Nicklaus for de-throning him. But, once people got to know Jack better that went away.

Reed seems to be sort of the Donald Trump of pro golf. He is cocky, self confident, and seems not to care too much what other people say or think about him. And he doesn’t let what other people think deter him from his goals.

I used the term “Millwall” to describe him, as their chant goes...

No One Likes Us
No One Likes Us
We Don’t Care
We Are Millwall
Super Millwall
We are Millwall
From the Den

Lol, like him or not, Bubba is great to watch because you just never know what sort of completely unorthodox looking shot he’s going to attempt, or how it will turn out. It also gives me some hope because, with his swing, he shouldn’t be able to play at the level he does.

Did you see his shots ?
None went directly into the water.
He hit the green (a couple of them passed the flagstick ) and spun -’em back off the green into the water.
His last shot to the green he missed right and long and it finally stayed on.

Rory Sabitini was number one on a previous list. I don’t remember his transgressions, but they disappeared when it was determined he had skin cancer and survived..

Pattrick Reed reminds me of Trump. He’s not afraid to speak his mind. He just goes about his business and gets the job done. You don’t have to be a Saint to be a good golfer or a good President.

You make a good point...I just watched an interview on the golf channel with David Ferhety and Reed. The issues were covered including his straight forward approach to what he see’s as another players mistake. He said if he see’s a wrong he tells that person and if that person can’t take an honest criticism so be it.

As for the parents there is speculation of abuse as well as his father dislike for him getting married
