What's gotten into Google?
A gander at its page today includes something they have never done until now - they inserted a tiny little link on their home page to advocate for the seemingly fine-sounding issue of equal pay for women, which takes us to a full-blown political advocacy video of the leftwing stripe we expect from Google. They did it small and tiny, as if to draw attention to it. But make no mistake: a floodgate has opened. I suspect we are going to be getting a lot more of this any time we try to use their search engine. Allowing them to monetize our data apparently wasn't enough for them. Now they want to hector us.
Because the fact of the matter is, women's pay inequality is America's most bogus issue.(snip)
Google has had trouble attracting women engineers for the reason Megan McArdle described very well: Many women know tech but not that many women are the fanatical geeks that Google requires. She wrote from her own experience in tech and her experience rings true. She wrote:

I'll admit, I'd be hard-pressed to feign fascination in either conversation. Maybe if it was about sailing at the Cape, or even about architecture.
Of course, I usually get peppered with questions like "What are you doing here? I thought you quit!"
Yep. I point them right at Thomas Sowell’s work on this.
I have worked with and for women, fine and capable women deserving of loyalty, and have never, ever seen an issue with pay disparity that was not fully logical and explainable.
As Thomas Sowell once said, if companies could get away with paying women less than men, they would hire all women.
The Big Lie is that a woman is paid only 72% of what a man is paid, with the implication (or, sometimes, the outright claim) that they are doing the exact same job. That violates a very basic law of economics. If a business owner or department manager could get a job performed by a woman for $72,000 instead of paying a man $100,000, he (or SHE) would hire the woman every time.
With minor exceptions, equal work for equal pay is already a reality in the U.S.
This ‘gender pay gap’ has been disproved, but liberals don’t care.
Whenever someone tries to suck me into that argument I say “show me ONE SINGLE AD for a job that says “men’s pay: $50,000; women’s pay: $40,000”.
Just one.
