I don't get it: are the votes for the impeachment of President Trump there?

I'm just not understanding: is it possible that the President is going to be impeached?

But being impeached alone will seriously weaken DJT. Possibly *very* seriously.

It didn't Bill Clinton. The GOP-controlled House voted to impeach him, then a month later the Democrats had a good midterm election, despite the fact that the incumbent President's party historically fares poorly in midterms.

Excuse me, the U.S. House voted to proceed with impeachment proceedings in October 1998, and voted to impeach Bill Clinton in December of that same year.

Has to be charged with high crimes and misdemeanors

"Crimes by a senior executive", and a "bad attitude", is all that phrase means.

for what?

For winning the election which they wanted to win, like really badly.

Actually, it would do the opposite. He would become untouchable after a Senate acquittal. It would also fire up his supporters like nothing else. In the meantime, judges get appointed and the economy grows.

That is a strong hand going into 2020.

He doesn’t really need to break any law.

The Left only has to convince a majority of Americans that he did.

And they have already spent 16 months trying to convince Americans that “Collusion” is a Federal crime.

Unfortunately, far too many in Congress seem to think it is too.

Same goes for “Obstruction”.

Most people don’t realize that it was perfectly in the Presidents Executive rights to fire Comey for any reason he had or no reason at all.

Yup. That’s what I meant earlier on another post. Can anyone name the 67 senators that wifi vote. “Yay” to “convict”? Probably 49 + mclame and a couple other assclowns but 67? I think not.

Agree with your points. In addition, Trump relishes a good showdown. It would be a “make my day” moment.

For those reasons, all this impeachment talk is just smoke. Some folks are letting themselves be gaslit.

You are so right. A lot of people don’t realize that “you serve at the pleasure of the president”.

is getting 2/3 majority in the Senate

Actually, it's 67 votes. A pretty steep hill to climb.

Unless they Senate gets a supermajority of Democrats, it’s not a winning position to take.

That’s possible only if conservatives don’t get out and vote this year. If too many Democrats are allowed to take seats in Congress or your state legislatures, you can say goodbye to more of your constitutional rights, too.

So vote, and tell your conservative friends to vote!

Simply put, no. It’s just red meat for Democrat fundraising and campaigning (since they have nothing else to offer) and red meat for liberal talking heads and news sites to give despondent liberal viwers hope and keep them watching. Kind of like congressional republicans saying they will repeal obamacare or build the wall or cut spending.

It is not common, but it is very simple to do.

Because unless you have the votes in the Senate you are wasting time and money.

It was worth the effort in the case of Clinton even though it was a sure thing that he would survive, because he had committed actual crimes.

History will record that Clinton should have been removed from office (eventually)

I’m slightly concerned in this case:

Russian collusion is dead, dead. Of course it was a hoax but the Deep state was trying to ride it out and hope Trump commit obstruction of justice on a hoax by drawing it out and make him get impatient on the hoax. He didn’t and so Mueller was then trying to get Trump to fire him so as to bring up that he had maybe something to hide and we need a constitutional crisis...blah blah blah but they didn’t know that there is a real investigation going on about them ......the investigators.......about the FISA warrant/Court/Steele Dossier...etc

Now the Empire has struck back by stealing all the Attorney-Client info from Cohen, his personal lawyer so as to develop opposition research on Trump for 2020 and to find some kind of illegality no matter how small to hang Trump. That’s why they’re trying to say Cohen isn’t a lawyer because they want full access and media leaks to try to bring Trump down. Trump won’t give up but it’s a fight to the finish

Most of them would love to impeach Trump. The reason why they haven’t is because the media hasn’t sold it yet. People already hate Congress, regardless of party, far more than even Democrats hate Trump.

Congress knows they could give voters incentive to vote them out in historic numbers — it has happened in recent memory. And Trump is popular with some key demographics.

They won’t do anything unless there are clear signs people really want Trump gone. At this point they can’t even be sure Trump won’t be reelected.

As I’ve said: in defeating Hillary he is guilty of Obstruction of Just-Us and the “us” indicated is out for their pound of flesh.

Less than a dozen or so congressmen and senators in the swamp ACTUALLY VOTED FOR TRUMP...Most voted for Hillary. The repukis HATE TRUMP more than the demoncrats do.

The repubikans are waiting for mueller to give them a list of crimes(a legal fig leaf) to impeach AND THEY WILL. They’re chomping at the bit to do it.
