Yup. That’s what I meant earlier on another post. Can anyone name the 67 senators that wifi vote. “Yay” to “convict”? Probably 49 + mclame and a couple other assclowns but 67? I think not.

Currently 47 RATS in the Senate plus the two independents total 49 Yes votes for conviction meaning 18 Republicans are needed. It's a lot closer that you think (which may explain Trump courting Cory Gardner of Colorado the other day concerning marijuana) and once it gets past 60, it's over because the remaining six or seven will fold rather than be on what they feel is the wrong side of history.

Keep in mind that unlike Clinton's impeachment travesty of a trial which began with Chester Lott telling Henry Hyde, "Henry, you're not going to dump this garbage on us," McConnell would bend over backwards to make sure the trial is "fair" lest he portrayed as partisan. As well and also unlike Clinton's travesty of a trial, the media would not be making dire predictions about the stock market, the military, and any other fear mongering they could gin up, but instead would be predicting how the country would be much better off without Trump.

But back to the matter at hand by taking a look at the definite Yes votes on the Republican side and the likely Yes folders once 60 is reached.

The impeachment process is a political process, not a legal one.

Trump can be impeached for almost anything if the votes are there.

Those in the majority can define "high crimes and misdemeanors" in whatever way they want.

Congress LOVES to waste time and money.

Very true.

But typically, they waste time and money on things that profit some constituency or another.

Impeachment usually only has one constituency and that is the rabid extreme of the opposition party.

Impeachment has no relationship to the profit of anyone. Which is another reason it is rare.

If impeachment put reliably put money in someone’s pocket congress would be doing it on a weekly basis.

Simply put, no. It’s just red meat for Democrat fundraising and campaigning (since they have nothing else to offer) and red meat for liberal talking heads and news sites to give despondent liberal viwers hope and keep them watching

You beat me to it! I agree wholeheartedly with you that the purpose of this impeachment crap is to keep the blood pressure high with the crap heads of the Left, shouting, sign carrying useful idiots of the progressive left. A pox on the whole lot of them!

Impeached for what?

For being the Republican candidate when the country rejected Hillary as President.

Remember, the Congress has to present evidence. The evidence is bogus, and it appears that trump was framed by Obama and Klintoon operatives that tried to entrap the Trump team into biting on Russian contacts working with the Demoncrats.
Even the rinos won’t be able to do it. Also remember, if the Dems go too far, we could have CW2, and that could mean emergency government with the arrest of the traitors.

You are nuts. If Trump were imminently threatened with conviction, he’d declare emergency government and arrest the the traitors including Congress. What counts is who controls the military, and guess what, in the end that’s all that counts even with the deep staters in Congress.

If Trump didn’t declare emergency government, he wouldn’t just be kicked out and quietly told to go home. No, this is unprecedented and this would be a fight to the death; Trump would be arrested or executed. I doubt Trump is the kind of guy that would go down quietly.

This isn’t business as usual.

Give them time. They will concoct a crime.

You seem to want to be logical about this. It’s politics.

If ONE of those pimple-head republicans thinks about removing our POTUS, they will have some very angry constituents to face if they dare show one hair on their butts when they go home.

Think about 1994.

Republicans were loaded for bear, and democrats wouldn't show their faces anywhere near their districts.

The GOP would be dead to me, and I don't think I'm alone.

There needs to be a crime first
Bill was impeached for lying under oath in a deposition
There are no crimes at all. Never mind high crimes
The left is apoplectic
Just ignore them

All this opens up is a routine view of impeachment being the solution to everything. The GOP would hype the public and in ten years when you have a Democratic President...they would return the favor.

The whole system becomes worthless after a while, and a joke.

The standard for Impeachment and removal is necessarily a subjective one, with those criteria as guidelines. The House decides if it is worthy of consideration, and the Senate considers.

One would hope that the Congress would be reasonable about it...but the Democrats are just plain stuck in hysteria.

A High Crime is any crime committed by an official of sufficiently high authority to have executive authority over the behavior. Only someone with high authority can commit a high crime, like High Treason.

Misdemeanor literally means a mis- or bad, demeanor- or attitude.

The argument could be made well that the Democrats completely suborned the “high crime” definition with BJBC, but prevailing on their sense of hypocrisy seems dubious.

The better course seems to be to really make sure they don’t get into a position where they can execute the silliness they’ve laid out.
