They find a cure for zombieitis. They then have to build society and reintegrate the cured zombies back into society. I see endless shows regarding prejudice against ex-zombies. Shows discussing “living privilege” and how it hinders ex-zombies in advancing themselves.

And.... They find out the helicopter was actually military missions of some kind (looking for survivors?). That the world has indeed already started recovery. And our characters are like those Japanese after WWII stuck on an island not knowing the war has ended. They have been living only miles away from a totally civilized recovered America!
