ATT offers $40 month, unlimited data but throttled after first 2 Gig. Just sayin ...

What AT&T doesn't offer is reliable service. We had very spotty service in our last house and our current house. No problems with Verizon. I'd try the T-Mobile deal, but they don't have a presence in Alaska.

I think any cell phone company can have issues at any given point.

At my house I had spotty reception with Verizon but T-Mobile is flawless. (Semi-rural SC)

I switched over and still had my Verizon phone, which T-Mobile paid off, and didn’t have good reception with T-Mobile. T-Mobile gave me a free router so I could access their net using the internet. Once I bought a T-Mobile phone the problem went away and I still have a free router. I am told it has something to do with the architecture of the phones/network.
