Lethal Weapon on Verge of Cancellation Due to Clayne Crawford's Behavior
TV Line ^ | April 23, 2018 | Michael Ausiello

Posted on 04/23/2018 1:37:56 PM PDT by EdnaMode

My recent Blind Item in Ask Ausiello is a blind no more. As confirmed by our sister site Deadline, a big question mark is now hanging over Lethal Weapon‘s seemingly slam-dunk Season 3 renewal due to the behavior of co-lead Clayne Crawford.

Per Deadline, Crawford has “been disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment.” The issue reportedly intensified in recent months to the point where several actors and crew members on the Fox drama do not want to be on set with Crawford. A source tells TVLine that studio Warner Bros. is considering recasting Clayne’s Martin Riggs role — possibly with a female — to play opposite Damon Wayans’ Roger Murtaugh in a potential fourth season.

Lethal Weapon — an adaptation of the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover film franchise — this season is averaging 4.25 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating (in Live+Same Day numbers), tying for fourth in the demo among Fox dramas behind Empire, Star and The Resident.

Reps for Warner Bros. and Fox declined to comment for this story.

I recall when Roger Davis replaced Pete Duel (who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound) in the TV series, Alias Smith and Jones.

It just was not the same.

The series continued for another 17 episodes but never regained its popularity and was cancelled at the end of a shortened 3rd season.

And there was the demise of the main character in Valerie Hogan [played by Valerie Harper who was fired at the end of the 2nd season]. The sitcom continued with Sandy Duncan but under the title Valerie’s Family and then The Hogan Family which ran for several seasons.

I think the ‘Save Baby Mark (S04 Ep05] is one of the most hysterical classics in sitcom history.

D’onofrio’s portrayal of a crazy character in the new “Magnificent Seven”, is embarrassing to watch. (Although he’d probably make a good older Raymond, if they made a Rain Man remake.)

“over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment”

So, in other words, he is just method acting as old school pre-rehab Mel Gibson?

“Doesn’t he get due process before being fired from his job?”

Where have you been lately? This is the #metoo era Hollywood we are talking about. If someone even anonymously posts on the internet that you might have done something “problematic”, your career is toast.

I stayed away from this show but recently caught a few episodes and I have to admit, it kinda grew on me.

Rarest wife and I have watched from the beginning and truly enjoy it. I hate that it's a reboot, because everything's a reboot; but the writing is decent and Crawford's character is totally believable.

Replace him with Christopher Walken. That is a character to lighten the drama.

A female?

Is Caitlyn Jenner available? People would get a "twofer". Win/win? ;)

I liked D’Nofrios’ portrayal of a crazy meth dealer in Salton Sea.

He didn’t even have a nose!

I really enjoyed Lethal Weapon. Crawford as Riggs was the best part of the show. I’ll go back to watching the only season of The Good Guys.

I remember that guy, he was in a season of “24”, I did not like him much then. I tried watching the TV version of “Lethal Weapon” but did not like it much, some of it due to him.

Actually I liked the Jeff Goldblum character, he was different and came from a really dysfunctional family.

Now I always liked Chris Noth’s, Mike Logan character. I really just like the first four seasons of Law & Order, after Michael Moriarty left it wasn’t the same. I liked Sam Waterston but I like the character of Ben Stone more.

I didn’t like him on 24 either. That was the worst storyline they ever did.

"How about not remaking the movie. It really can’t be improved on."
Yeah it was - commie Danny Glover isn't in it. Just FYI. I've watched the series from the beginning and it always entertaining with a bit of humor but something always over the top.

Since when can't Hollywood handle a diva - male or female?
