that’s a start. 2000 more to go and we’ll call it a ‘dent’.

"...I’d love to see an ax swinging maniac over a surgeon’s scalpel..."

I'm with you there, Rurudyne! I like it. It is an amazing start, but...to really get cleared out...we are going to need a new Rhetorical Tool: I'll call it "Rurudyne's Axe".

Rurudyne's Axe
noun

Word Origin:
"Rurudyne's Axe", 2018, used in online discussion of methods to reduce government bureaucracy. Rurudyne was a person frequenting a popular conservative website Free Republic, first used 4/24/2018.

Rurudyne's Axe definition:
A rhetorical tool that favors the use of overwhelming and encompassing force (implying that collateral destruction is an acceptable byproduct due to the seriousness of an unaddressed issue) using a figurative image of an "axe swinging mainiac" to address a problem perceived to be out of control or unsolvable, usually contrasted with slight, small volume rhetorical tool (commonly "surgeon's scalpel") which does not actually resolve or even reduce the problem, but only portrays the effort (for public consumption) to do so.

Usage:
"The issue of out of control government legislation was so serious that invoking Rurudyne's Axe was the only hope to resolve the issue."

Yeah...I had the same impression when I saw them (I came across them while looking for a formal definition of The Federal Register.

This isn’t some “OMB Report”, it is pretty straighforward, and a positive indication!

I have always viewed excessive government bureaucracy as barnacles encrusting the hull of a sleek ship of industry. Until the barnacles are removed, the vessel is going to sail sluggishly.

MAGA indeed!

Sure it’s nice for now but the alphabet agencies need to just die. They are all worthless and basically redundant at the state level.

Buy stock in D.C. used office furniture resellers.

Also shows how the pricks get busy during his/her last year. Kickbacks or favors owed?

And the story of the graph is that RINO Bush added more that Obama, who we all complain about.

I try to understand that in context. While many of us disagree with the PATRIOT act for what appear to now be VERY obvious reasons, at the time we weren’t so far off from the day 3000 Americans were murdered in the space of a few hours.

I view what we see there as increases during that time as being related to what we were doing with Homeland Security (how I HATE that name) and the PATRIOT act.

Not at all saying that is right, but that is the context, IMO.

Yes...there appears to be a standard periodicity to the patterns, except for the total number of pages which largely seems to just go up, and up, and up.

Trump stands alone, regardless.

Intestingly, when one looks at the pattern of overall pages...it reached an initial peak 1n 1979 (Carter) began a decline until...1986...after the mid=term elections when...Tah Dah! The Dems took over Congress.

Then...leveled out in the GHW Bush years, then climbed dramatically all through the nineties up to 2017 in a steady upward progression.

That’s a good graph

Also note that by this graph, Bush was more statist and active than Obama....

Take one (1) set stereo earbuds with extra long cord.

Place in pocket.

Remove from pocket after at least 10 minutes.

I noticed that too, and tried to give it some context earlier in the thread:
