Well as an actively involved adult leader in Boy Scouts, with two Eagle Scouts and a girl who quit Girl Scouts because it sucked, I can see both sides to the situation. I really think that there is an interest in girls to do some of the things Boy Scouts do, because they are fun. But the real reason that they are letting girls join now is because of $$$.
It is no coincidence that the decision to let girls join Boy Scouts came shortly after the LDS church dropped Boy Scouts as their youth program for boys over 14. Talking to my district commissioner last fall, he said that 1/3 of the units in the district left, all LDS wards. How can you replace the registration and donation $$$? Add girls!
Yesterday I saw a new clip featuring the CEO of BSA. Watching that guy gave me the creeps. The PC was oozing out of him like pus from a boil.
Sadly the Girl Scouts have been controlled by radical left wing dykes and feminazi’s for decades at the national level... the individual troops are usually fine women, but the group leadership is the enemy within.
Juliette Gordon Low is spinning in her grave over what they have done to her organization.
Now rabid left wingers have infiltrated the leadership of the boy scouts and have been working on destroying it from within as well....
Watching these fine organizations being destroyed by communists and homosexuals is disgusting.
The end game of allowing girls in has nothing to do with fairness to girls, its about destroying something that is purely male.... just as their decision to let in homosexuals. Its about destroying the organization 1 cut at a time.
In regard to activities I doubt much will change. Girls want to become boy scouts because of the activities the boy scouts do, not to change the activities. A lot of active out door girls do not feel comfortable in the girl scouts. They do not want a “girl scouts II”.

It is ironic the principal leaders who shifted the Boy Scouts to the left were Republicans, not progressive Democrats. Robert Gates, Director of the CIA under George H.W. Bush and Secretary of Defense under George W Bush, as President of the Boy Scouts lifted the ban on gays serving as adult leaders. Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon and Trump’s first secretary of state, while serving on the board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America was a leader in the move to allow openly gay scouts in the BSA.
Liberals have successful changed American culture due to the acquiescence or willing collusion of “conservative” leaders. They could not have done it on their own.

My daughter is a girly girl but she did not want to spend her time with a bunch of uptight witches (girl scouts). She would rather be outside doing something. She used to go on epic walks with a few of her girl friends who were like her.
We had them. Mostly sisters, sisters friends and daughters. We had one scout leader, a scout himself, who had about 4 daughters, no sons. May have been five I don't remember. It was not unusual for him to bring one or two. The girls, as we called them, were not a part of the ceremonies or the meetings but they did participate some. One could tie knots better than anyone. Occasionally they would go camping, only overnight camps though, but they had their own tent away from us and their own fire. For the most part they did not hike with us though. None of them came unaccompanied by an adult.
In regard to membership you are correct. Both are losing members so the boy scouts decided to tap into an untaped source. Girls. There has never been a shortage of perfectly normal girls wanting to be boy scouts but any boy wanting to be a girl scout was suspect.
It is a question of survivability and economics over tradition and tradition lost. It's too bad but it is the world we live in and we don't have to like it.
I do not see this as a social statement as much as a new reality.
I always bring up my daughter. Hated girl scouts but was a girly girl. She would rather spend time outdoors camping, shooting, fishing and hiking than with a bunch of uptight witches. She worked at a boy scout camp when she got older. Two of my nieces did too.
In regard to the girls camping over night. Overnight camping was weekends. Early Saturday to Sunday afternoon. I always figured it was the mothers telling dad to take the girl so she could have some alone time. And dad telling girl she could bring a friend if she would just shut up.
And they all decided to make a stink to force the boy scouts to let them in? All at the same time? How about that.
No I don't approve of girls in boy scouts but there is more to it than just social engineering. It's a question of economics and survivability over tradition and tradition lost like it always does. Both the boy and girl scouts are losing members, the girls more so, so the boy scouts decided to tap into an untapped resource, girls. There are many more girls wanting to be boy scouts than vice versa. Any boy who would want to be a girl scout is suspect.
Given a choice between girls and trans/homos I would take the girls.
Homosexuals wanted to be scoutmasters too, but I don’t think it was because “wow, I just love to camp”. Maybe some were old eagle scouts who just missed it but I think it was a coordinated effort to attack an institution for political reasons (and some would argue worse ambitions). The boy scouts are a political football to the left at this point. The left has chosen them as a target, frozen it, and are chipping away at it. First gay counselers, now it’s not for boys anymore. Eventually it has no purpose or charter, it’s just another club. One with weird leaders. And then it dies.
I just hate seeing the left get a win and further their goal to destroy an organization because it wasn't adequately deferential to their demands once.
It was pretty heart breaking when they had the boy scouts march with a rain bow flag. Where is that in their core values? A total politicization is all it was.
Nothing like rallying around your sexualities. Honestly that pissed me off more than letting girls in.
As a boy scout we were never involved in politicking. The girl scouts jumped on that band wagon a long time ago.

I remember years ago describing camping with military surplus gear, and another poster described how when he and his friends were camping they looked like a bunch of pirates...
It is probably just a ploy to attract the children of the Asian “replacement Americans”, who normally wouldn’t trust strangers with their children.
I always thought it was troubling that the GS didn’t support the BS in their desire to keep deviants away from the children; they basically admitted they had crossed that hurdle - and just turned a blind eye to lesbians in their midst. I’ll never understand why groups or companies centered around children are tempted to accommodate sick people who won’t produce any offspring anyway.
