You brought back good memories. My high school English teacher reading Huckleberry Finn with accents for all the characters. They've probably banned the book today. Another reading "Great Expectations". Another lost book.

Read that in 8th grade English (1956). Still recall some of the characters/descriptions!

It was very common back in the 50s to have spinster school teachers, many who had lost a love or fiance in WWII or Korea. Made Miss Havisham seem almost contemporary.
