Believe me, even counties other than Cook in the “Chicago metro area” have no use for Chicago, and most if not all would side with the rest of the state. In a nutshell, Cook County and Chicago are pariahs, and are pretty much despised by the rest of the state.

And plenty in the northern tier of counties also have the same white hot hatred of metro Chicago area.
Not in my part of Illinois it wouldn't .... I can guarandamntee that!

I’d put the dividing line just about at I-80, maybe a little south. And I’d bet the folks west of I-39 would split off, too. Maybe as far east as 355. The folks in Kane, DuPage, and Will counties wouldn’t much like being run by Crook County.
