Dallas County candidate admits plan to reward his children who marry white, straight Christians
Washington Post ^ | 5/18/18 | Marwa Eltagouri

The estranged brother of a former judge running for county commissioner contacted the Dallas Morning News earlier this week with a bold assertion: that the candidate, Vickers ‘Vic’ Cunningham, was a lifelong racist.

Cunningham, a former criminal district judge, largely denied his brother’s accusations. But he confirmed to the newspaper that he had set up a living trust with a clause that would reward his children if they married a white person.

“I strongly support traditional family values,” Cunningham, 55, told the Morning News. “If you marry a person of the opposite sex that’s Caucasian, that’s Christian, they will get a distribution.”

LOL. So why set up the trust then? There really isn’t any legitimate way to defend this, from the racial angle.

I knew a guy whose parents’ trust required him to marry a Jewish woman as a prerequisite to inheritance. It was their wish that Jewish culture/faith be preserved among their descendants, and they chose to incentivize that wish. It was the same deal for his siblings. If only one of the kids married Jewish, it would be winner-take-all. It’s my understanding that all the kids married Jewish. Mission accomplished.

As if no other race or ethnic group does that.

It seems QEII is on board with the marriage.

She probably would not have been if had been William.

So ... it’s racist if white people do this but it’s not when other races do the same. Got it.

Perhaps it only becomes an issue when you run for office.

In my "Family and Marriage" course in college, we were told that the more factors people are in common the happier and longer lasting the marriage on the average. Of course, that was many years ago. Perhaps this is no longer allowed to be stated no matter what the facts are.

btw, we know several couples who want their children to marry within their ethnic and religious group. Nothing wrong with that.

“Those who want their children to marry within their culture are not demanding an arranged marriage.”

When your “want” becomes something that you think you need to tell your kids, then you are engaging in “like I have to repeat” a “low-level” version of an arranged marriage. Want my parental love? Then you better marry this or that person with XYZ physical attributes.

It is passive aggressive, and you know this.

Replace the stuff with race from this candidate, with a Muslim parent saying this, and FR would be in full meltdown.

I can’t help wondering how reaction would differ if our candidate were a “progressive,” and this distribution were to be given to children who married non-white non-Christians, preferably leftists. In particular, I’d bet, this thread would probably be outraged, and the currently Outraged Leftists elsewhere would approve.

” Of course, that was many years ago. Perhaps this is no longer allowed to be stated no matter what the facts are.”

You mean telling people that they will be “happier” if they marry someone that happens to have the same skin color even if they love someone with a different one?

This subject isnt about character, morals, or similar POV. Just that if your skin color matches then your marriage will be “awesome”.

“btw, we know several couples who want their children to marry within their ethnic and religious group. Nothing wrong with that.”

And there is nothing wrong with their kids that dont.

The question is whether people think the people getting married can decide for themselves, or if their parents (whom arent the ones getting married to these people) need to keep their opinion to themselves.

The kid has the ability to do what he wants. He won’t inherit if he goes against the terms. That is the choice.

The current crop of hysterics who slam a father’s conditions will also be hysterical over something else that is absolutely none of their business in the first place.

This lockstep mentality in the country is getting to the point where no one can think differently without some busybody complaining.

The old idiot cant take it with him.

Some gold in exchange for your freedom isn’t worth it. Let the old bastard die with one less person to cry over him.

If true, so what? Since when aren't people allowed to believe whatever it is they want, as long as it doesn't hurt someone else?

Sheesh ......

“Those who want their children to marry within their culture are not demanding an arranged marriage.”

Exactly. Maybe parents want the best lives for their children and grandchildren, and marrying within the culture provides a better chance for that than introducing another culture. Less stress.

I don’t have a problem with interracial marriages for religious or moral reasons. Two adults marry ... fine; knock yourself out. (Although all of the mixed marriages which I know intimately are DIFFICULT.) But if there will be children, I don’t think it’s fair to them. Life is hard enough when the family dynamics are “normal”.

Didn’t you get the memo?
You can believe anything you want, as long as it is the daily approved thought and words.

Any straying from the political-sanctified mind control will have you will be reported, isolated, forced to plead forgiveness, career ruined/position revoked, and immediately report for re-education. You must comply!

Then came TRUMP!
God Bless President Trump.
