On the occasions that I entered a country/region where English was widely spoken I made it a point to learn a few words/phrases of the local language.When in Quebec I politely ask "parlez-vous Anglais?" and say "merci".In Brazil I learned "obrigado" (thank you).In East Africa I learned "jambo" (hello).
But in this country I refuse to speak anything but English to anybody except foreign tourists who are polite and confused..and then I only know a few words of French and Spanish.

LOL - and it needs to be “fixed”. I grew up in New England, and we didn’t “fix” dinner - we made dinner, i.e, “I’m going to go make dinner”. (Actually, it was “supper”.
