Do Mexicans have to dial “1” for Spanish?

I didn’t think so.

Yes, The US has never had an official language.

An obvious fact, otherwise this article is garbage propaganda.

English isn’t the official language of the United States

And that’s a big part of the problems we are having.

I think I will move to France and demand everyone speaks English to me. I wonder how that would work out?

The way Democrats carry on about Deportation, you would think “Mexico” was Spanish for Auschwitz.

Just sayin’...

On the occasions that I entered a country/region where English was widely spoken I made it a point to learn a few words/phrases of the local language. When in Quebec I politely ask "parlez-vous Anglais?" and say "merci".In Brazil I learned "obrigado" (thank you).In East Africa I learned "jambo" (hello).

But in this country I refuse to speak anything but English to anybody except foreign tourists who are polite and confused..and then I only know a few words of French and Spanish.

English is the de facto national language of the United States, with 82 percent of the population claiming it as a mother tongue, and some 96 percent claiming to speak it "well" or "very well."

"In 1774, to make separation of the colonies from England more emphatic it was proposed in the American Continental Congress that the official language of the new political entity be changed from English to German.

"Twenty-seven members of the congress voted for, and 27 voted against, this proposal. Frederick Muhlenberg broke the tie by casting a negative vote.

"GOOD ENOUGH for me" The Courts were always pointing out de facto segregation, sic. English IS the official language IMHO .

Trump could make this happen, it would be just as important as the Wall.

Official, no. Predominant, yes - throughout its history.

This is typical disingenuous leftist sophistry.

There's no question that English is the de facto language of the United States.

As well as in most of the world's business community. Ever look at the directions sheet that came with your electronic goody? Many are multi-lingual and in all cases that I have seen, the English instructions are the shortest, most concise. If for no other reason that is why English is the current lingua franca in that time-is-money environment.
