I saw what you did there. American Staffordshire Terrier, otherwise known as a pit bull. Years ago, Dr. James Hereford wrote about the breed, and how wonderful they were. But something has gone terribly wrong since then. I’m sure there are thousands of pit bulls who are loyal, well-behaved companions. But as you are the owner of one, I would like to ask you, why take the risk? There are hundreds of dog breeds that do not suddenly turn and attack people, unprovoked, breeds that are just as loyal, just as beautiful. I just don’t understand why anyone would get a dog that is overwhelmingly responsible for most of the mailings and deaths from dogs. I think they should be illegal, but I know there are very active pro-pit bull groups, which go around the country, legally challenging communities that outlaw them. I just don’t get it. I hope your dog never goes off and hurts or kills anyone. I really do. But I would not take that chance. Good luck.

My dog was a rescue puppy, represented as half Great Dane and half black Lab. Then he turned out to be what he is. By age 13 he’s been a great, loving, silly dog with tremendous drive and self-confidence who’s never shown any human aggression. My problem with trades people and delivery people is he wants to jump into their vehicles and drive off with them. He stays.

Loyalty up, loyalty down. You don’t use labels to screw those who give you their all.
