Robert the Bruce is a Scottish national hero. He defeated the English at the Battle Of Bannenockbourne in 1314.
The Scots were outnumbered by the English and Robert turned the tide of the battle into a resounding victory for Scotland.

Hugh, Earl of Ross
Hugh was a favorite of King Robert I of Scotland, who endowed him with many lands. Aodh even married Robert's sister, Matilda. Aodh's young brother, Iain, was given marriage to the Margaret Comyn, heiress of Buchan (although he died childless).
This is the link(by marriage) to Robert the Bruce.
The castle estate still stands and at one time was owned by Princess's Diane's boy friend Dodi Fyed(Sp?)
needless to say my father didn't get any of the royal estate or even as much as a purloined spoon. And the only title my father had was"Farmer", 'Private" and "Postman" And "Mr"
Oh well...
