Kilmer was terrific as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. I still think he should have at least been nominated for an Academy Award for that portrayal. Compare that to some of his other roles, and I think it gives a good example of how important good writing and directing are in film.

I saw one of his later movies a few months ago (can’t remember the name), but he he had gained a lot of weight and did not look particularly well.

I don’t remember what it is but Val Kilmer is having a serious, chronic health issue, that’s why he’s put on weight. He may be on high dose prednisone, guaranteed to blow anyone up.

“Kilmer was terrific as Doc Holliday in Tombstone.”

He was also good as Nick Rivers in the 1984 movie “Top Secret!”

He was good in Spartan too. Kilmer gave a lot of credit to Kurt Russell for saving Tombstone. He basically stepped in, rewrote, and directed the movie (without credit).

Tombstone is a keeper. Kilmer was good in Heat too. He did a bang on impersonation of Marlin Brando in another movie.

I don’t care how fat he is, he’s one of the best.

John Goodman too.
