Worked with a guy who survived an attack when he stumbled upon a wild buffalo when hiking alone in Utah. He tried backing slowly away but the animal would move towards him when he did. When he was standing still, the animal would just graze and ignore him. He thought he would just wait for the animal to wander away since it wouldn’t let him move.
After about 10 or so minutes the buffalo raised his head up and decided to charge. Flipped him completely over his head. My friend landed flat on his back and when he looked up a big eye was right in his face. He got up and took off running. Long story short, he ended up pretty beat up with broken ribs and a punctured lung. Fish and wildlife officer said it was rare for the person to survive a wild buffalo attack.
Pretty wild story.
This is why I stay away from any bisons that wander into my yard.
