He’s not a great actor. He is an asshole through and through and he plays one on TV. He’s only good at being an asshole. A great actor is versatile. DeNiro is a one trick pony. He just plays himself. That’s not acting.
He always has the same stupid look on his face both on and off the camera.
He has no depth.
DeNiro was speaking lines——written by others,including Mario Puzo,and directed by F Coppolla.
He was not responsible for the stereotyping.
I detest the man as much as you do-—but still think he is a good actor.

#18. I think that Pacino is more versatile as an actor than De Niro. I remember “Scent of a Woman” as one example. “Serpico”, another, “The Godfather” series - great;
The “Devil’s Advocate” was really good acting, and others.
De Niro was very good, but was he a one-trick pony or did he really have the versatility that Pacino has?
I’m thinking some trips to Sunday School would help this guy tremendously.
Pacino has become kind of a caricature in his latter movies, but I could just watch him all day in “The Devil’s Advocate”.
I was telling a younger friend yesterday that someone is going after pedophiles in this country. I wouldn’t be surprised if we wont see a suicide by hanging again.

Your take is spot on. De Niro is dog shit and no “great” anything.
As a matter of fact, De Niro is so far from the top, very few people would or should agree with you. He is not only NOT a versatile actor, his star turn in the wretched remake of "CAPE FEAR" was sans any "ability", acting or otherwise, completely and unrealistic in the extreme!
Oh sure, he has won awards, but then, so have many others who also couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag/for less than no true reason !

Except for all the others. I think he must have done his own stunts in "Raging Bull".
You like him in movies, but he isn't even a "good" actor at all. Basicaly he's but a rather pathetic "method actor: who isn't even much good at that particular "method"/style.
See the original CAPE FEAR with Robert Mitchum playing Max Cady; it’s a far better movie with a far better cast and it’s far and away MORE scary. menacing, and believable!
He’s also a pedophile. He also can’t stand his own race and every wife or girlfriend he’s ever had has been black. That alone proves he’s not playing with a full deck. He’s an American-hating liberal who like most, hates his own race and wants to be black.
