Five-year-old Ian goes to the Nashville Zoo often with his dad, Patrick Parker. While visiting the bear exhibit, Ian started jumping in front of the glass separating him from an Andean bear when it jumped into the water. Incredibly enough, the "copycat" bear made his way over to the glass and started jumping along with Ian.

Hard to believe people hunt bears for sport. I can see shooting one if they are getting aggressive but not to simply hunt for sport.
The hunting of animals is frequently used to control animal populations and to make sure the environment stays in balance. The individual hunters may do it for sport but the end result is a healthy bear population.
Wow! I’m curious. Did you smell the bears? When we lived in Washington State, a co-worker of my daughter’s had a bear wander through her yard. She was alerted because of the awful smell of the animal. I’ve never heard that before, or since.
Intellectually I know that and understand it but for the life of me I just can’t see how anyone can kill these curious foraging animals that are so intelligent. Obviously I have never hunted for sport or food.
I think what really bothers me is some hunters are really proud they gunned down a bear from a distance. I know this isn’t the most conservative value and if they shoot a deer or elk for food it makes it easier to accept. I understand the circle of life and the need to keep the animal populations in check for the good of their healthy population. It doesn’t mean I have to like it.
When I was a kid in the 60’s I had a neighbor the hunted bears.
Every time he got one he ground up most of the meat and mixed it with pork and spices.
Him and the other neighbors fired up their grills and everybody came over with bread or buns and hamburger fixings.
Bear burgers were great and everybody ate their fill.
Ma, those were good times.
That’s some kinda place where you live.
I have never noticed a smell. I will post another photo when I find and format it...
