There are no words to adequately describe how vile and loathsome theses creatures are.

They say that this creates a more level ground for the civilian side

In other words, Tricare will strive to suck just a tiny bit less than Obamacare.

When I joined the Air Force in 1965, one of the big hooks for a career was “free complete medical care” for the remainder of your life. That included medical, dental, vision, hearing, and mental. When I retired in 1987, all I was granted was Tricare, which paid 80% of medical; no vision, no hearing, no dental. I had to get a suplemental policy.
I read a letter to the editor of the AF Times; “During times of conflict, there is nothing too good for the American GI, during peacetime, that’s exactly what he/she gets; the next time the American GI is needed, that may be what America gets! You cannot depend on our government unless you’re drawing social benefits; then you’re home free!

For those who were told they had free health care for life, they lied after 1956, as it wasn’t in the printed contract.

No Kidding. BS, but true.

https://www.military.com/militaryadvantage/2012/05/is-there-a-promise-of-free-health-care-for-life

USAF Colonel George “Bud” Day, a lawyer and a Medal of Honor winner, took this implied free medical care issue for retiree to the Supreme Court and the court, in a compromise verdict, ruled that any military veteran who served prior to a date in 1956 and were honorably retired were eligible for free medical care under TRICARE For Life. There are few of us still living and our numbers decrease daily.

I am furious. Co-pays already went up and are going up again. I will NEVER vote for any congressmen that signed this bill.

I would just be happy if I could just get Tricare and my healthcare provider to communicate with each other about what I owe and what I don’t owe.

It’s like a scene out of Idiocracy.

“When it was announced that changes would be coming to TRICARE for those joining the military after Jan 1, 2018 it was also communicated that those who joined prior to that date would be exempt from new additional costs like annual enrollment.”

Seems like a false statement to me. I’ve been paying annual enrollment fees since I retired. What bothers me more is a new referral system. I used to be able to get a referral for skin cancer, go to a dermatologist, and have suspicious growths removed on the spot. One visit, $12 copay. Now my referral allows me to see the dermatologist ($30 copay), who then creates a referral for treatment. When the treatment referral is approved, I can go back for a second visit (another $30 copay) and treatment. I live 30 miles away, so two 60 mile round trips a month apart and a $60 copay to do what used to take one visit ($12).

And I’ll need to do this for the rest of my life. I’ve had melanoma (the types that can kill quickly) removed. But my PCM cannot create a referral for 1, 2 or 3 years. I need to renew it every 6 months, then go to the dermatologist, then get another referral for treatment. 3 visits total to get one treatment for something I’ll need to do twice a year for life!
