If your grandson was a military veteran, the only thing his family is entitled to is a headstone plaque for his grave.........Contact your local VA office for the full information.

Sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss, Allen. How horrible.

Our son bought a motorcycle when he was 25. He’s always lived a little too dangerously and is not a particularly defensive or attentive driver, so my wife and I were scared to death. He became an EMT, is a volunteer Fire Cadet at a local fire department, and is working on his paramedic degree now. In the past year, he has now seen a fair amount of death up close and personal including Jaws of Life extrications from accidents. He finally decided to sell the bike a couple months ago and my wife and I are ECSTATIC that it is gone. Thank God nothing happened to him.

Your best contact would be either the Veterans Administration, or the local VFW.

It depends upon the availability and locale of Honor Guard Units. My Grandfather, buried in Houston, my Father, buried in Shreveport, and my Son in Law, buried at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery all had Honor Guard Units available.

If the mother of the child is not competent to raise the child, you should look into filing for custody.

Again, thanks all. We have an SS office in town and I’ll drop by the enlistment center.
