Amnesty International calls in investigators after second staff suicide
Amnesty International is calling in external investigators to examine two staff suicides that have caused an internal crisis at the world’s best-known human rights organisation.
Roz McGregor, 28, an Amnesty intern from Leatherhead, Surrey, took her own life five weeks after Gaetan Mootoo, 65, a veteran researcher, ended his at the organisation’s Paris offices. Both worked for Amnesty’s international secretariat, which is based in Clerkenwell, London.
#Mootoo — I hope that doesn’t turn out to be as ironic a name as it first appears.
