That we live in this one universe should prove the hypothesis false.

I still don't believe . . .

Which is why no one will be able to explain anything to you. If your mind is already closed, there's no way in for more information.

Nonetheless, short form: There are theories expressed in mathematical terms which work to predict observed results. That's called "physics."

If they don't work - aside from Global Warming, of course, but that's not really about the real world; it's about controlling the masses - then they are not physics. Some theories work in all tested cases (so far, that includes Einstein's equations for motion - which characterizes time as a dimension similar to the three spatial dimensions). Some do not - and so are not considered 'proven.'

And some (Global Warming, again) never work but that doesn't get in the way of our statist overlords.

I bet God knows how the Universe works.

Seems obvious to me, but then I’m not a physicist.

“Wrase and other string theorists immediately realized, the cosmos must either be profoundly different than previously supposed or string theory must be wrong.”

The latter is most assuredly the reality. The string theory models are pure mathematical imaginings and nothing else. They have no empirical basis in the reality of the universe and no empirical facts for proof.

So 10500 is what they meant. A pity, really. That still isn't enough universes to contain one in which the Mariners win the World Series.

“So far, all we have is ONE that we can count............................”

And this idiotic article says that it can’t exist.

Went to school with a gal named Cumrun.

Maybe I should say she schooled me.

"Time is a dimension like X Y and Z."

That makes no sense to me. Since most physics are long proven: Let's assign matter as M. Let's assign electro-magnetism as EM. Let's assign energy (whether stored or potential) as EN. Let's assign the light spectrum as L. Let's assign gravity as Q for questionable. Let's now assign Time as QT, since it is questionable like gravity.

Try working all that out on your white board and maybe you can discover General Relativity. Just funnin you.

"The measurement of dimensions is the human construct."
Hmmm, so when my car matter crashes into a lampost matter that is a dimension of my own human mind construct and doesn't actually happen? Not buying your thesis. All 5 of my senses says it is reality, unless I'm in the Matrix.

FYI:
Dimensions: A measurable extent of a particular kind, such as length, breadth, depth, or height.
Physics: An expression for a derived physical quantity in terms of fundamental quantities such as mass, length, or time, raised to the appropriate power (acceleration, for example, having the dimension of length × time⁻²).

Derived: base a concept on a logical extension or modification of (another concept). Notice it includes modification which means alter or change.

Time is something the human mind created to make sense of our experiences. Think planting and harvesting.

then they get upset when this untestable, un-falsifiable theory claims that we are living in a universe that can’t exist.

Logic dictates that if a person postulates a theory stating that the observable universe that we live in is an impossibility, then the flaw lies in this person's theory.

It is garbage and not worth bupkis.

I was referring to the 'real' dark matter.

The dark matter you can't see or feel but holds the universe together (at least in theory).

I understood that, was just having some fun.

I tried to like the show, figured someone else here might have made the connection.

Apologies for wasting your time.

The other theory is Bohmian Mechanics. The plasma physicists may have been right all along.

Dark matter, as defined, does not exist.

But, there is a dark force, and it is real.

If time is just another dimension, then, the “dark matter” and the “dark forces/energy” exist in the past, and it’s all of that “dark stuff” from the past that is making hay out of the current theories and forcing scientists to come up with all kinds of convoluted theories about how the universe began and how it will end.

Pay attention to the past. That’s where all current matter and current energy will “reside” as time passes, and it’s that past matter and past energy that is telling us that it exists, via measurements and calculations that keep telling us that, there is some “dark” stuff needed to make the current universe work as we understand it.

“I work with databases and every field in a database is like a different dimension that entries can have: last name, first name, SSN, salary, etc. I’m thinking these extra dimensions are similar.”
OH NO!!! Do you mean the GDPR will also cause these dimensions to be completely scrambled with no trace to how they were before?????????

I’m a database person, non-database person probably won’t get that :)

"Logic dictates..."

Oh, but I've been told that logic or reasoning is just another human construct and there is no empirical evidence so has no relationship to our 5 senses.

I can see this post, so I yam what I yam.
