my browser doesn’t render *.dtd In general, browsers don't render *.dtd files. A dtd file is information about how to render another file. It's not meant to be rendered.
The image I think you're referring to (the huge "Unrigging Elections" image) is a .png file, which any browser less than 10 years old can certainly render.
