Yes Johnny Otis starts in the late 40s. Discovered Etta James, took Big Mama Thornton and Little Richard to commercial success. His son played guitar on Frank Zappa’s Hot Rats.

A couple of early tunes by Johnny Otis:

Jeff Hi Stomp (1946)
Probably inspired by Jefferson High School on 41st Street in Los Angeles

Jimmy's Around the Clock Blues (1945)
Recorded by several acts in 1945, this tune morphed into Chuck Berry's Reelin' and a-Rockin' (1958) and Teddy Randazzo's Mother Goose Twist (1962).
