Neil Young is still a Canoogian.
Pinged Blu because she understands the pejorative of Canoogian.
Last year I got a Neil Young CD...I was kinda laughing at the cover because there's Neil Young, long hair (I love long hair!) and lookin’ all Western (I love Western) and I'm thinking “Dude, who you trying to fool? You're Canadian, ya fool! You can't be Western, that belongs to US!” And then I listened to the whole CD and decided that Canada does indeed go almost as far west as US, so it was ok.
For even more rock n’ roll trivia, that book about Laurel Canyon kept mentioning the Eagles, but never really said anything about them. There could be a few reasons for that.
The Eagles wrote most of their own music...and they could actually play their instruments! That book cracked me up when it told about all the groups who had studio musicians (Glen Campbell chiefly) do all the music! Anyhoo, also the author may have not dwelt on the Eagles because Don Henley seems to be known as a most powerful protector of the brand.
And, the Eagle's “Take It Easy” was a song that Jackson Browne had actually started and I think Glen Frye actually finished and Jackson said, “Hey dude, you finished it, you sing it”. At that time, Glen lived in an apartment above Jackson...I think it was in Laurel Canyon. Jackson composed on a piano.
So, it turns out that Jackson was the one who was in Winslow Arizona, his truck blew up and it was a frustrating day...so he started to write a song about it. And I will not learn how to post emojiis, it's hard enough just reading them! Hats off to you guys tho!
