Maximum steroid use, unusual body size, genetic breeding of giants, total use of advanced body armor and tactical equipment. Any play enhancing drugs permitted during play. Anything goes, a small war with all the best toys.
That is the future. It is not pleasent (i dislike professional sports because they are boring, to me) but necessary.
Imagine a freak league of 25 stone weight men in carbon fibre body armour, hopped up on methamphetamine and reefer... kicking the bloody piss out of each other for an hour, fighting over a ball. Death and maiming, obviously contractually covered before permission to play.
That right there sells itself.
The technology developed and field tested will save or help millions of innocents, and enhance the probability of human survival.
