It’s the Cabelas vs. the REIs.
Went into an REI to buy a strap lock after not being able to find one elsewhere.
The cashier could not believe I didn’t want to sign up for a membership.
Yup, you nailed it. But wearing a MAGA hat might get you lynched. I prefer to just pitch my tent and listen to the sounds of nature. The noise from the insects begins with a low noise volume around 10 pm. and by midnight it is loud, and up til around 3-4 am it is screaming loud. I love it. I did meet a great guy who later I shared two nights over 5 five days with during the Hurricane in 2017; we did a bounding type walk with one or the other out ahead, and crossing paths about 6 times. I finally did a backtrack walk from a hostel and found his prius - I was disappointed but he was a gentleman and never once mentioned politics; I assumed he was a liberal but him being over 65 and just out to walk left anything the left behind.
