If you knew how wealthy many catholic priests are along with their health benefits and retirement....oh man, the hypocrisy.
... and all the boyfriends they can manage.
Diocesan priests in the US make around $30,000 a year. They are expected to pay for their own food, transportation, and personal items of clothing, etc. (Lodging is generally provided.) Nobody gets rich off that.
They are not under a vow of poverty, however. If they inherit money, for example, they are permitted to keep it. A few priests may have time to have a business on the side. I would think a conservative would not object to either of those things.
