I still get Readers Digest. I usually read it cover to cover. The stories are perfect for short sitting spells, like while cooking, waiting for the dryer to finish, a few minutes before going to bed, etc. When we finish them, we send them on to a prison, where they are appreciated.

I know we had condensed books as a kid. I don’t know if it was my mom or grandparents that kept those coming.

True story... my dad worked at a small town co-op station in the 60’s. Kids took the door off a walk in safe one saturday night with sledge hammers and splitting wedges. Got away with a hand full of change. Missed about 5k in cash in an old lunch sack laying in the corner on the floor. Personally, I liked the pre-stained shorts they used to sell with a pouch in it.

In general, that’s a good suggestion. But you don’t know just how clever my cat is. If I tried that, she’d move it somewhere else just to spite me.

I’ll see your 3 and raise you my male South African Borebel (180lbs), my female Neapolitan Mastiff (120lb) and my male Cane Corso (200lb).

If you can get by those 3, good luck. My Cane Corso sleeps right outside my bedroom and his snoring will still wake you up!

“Papillon”

Yep. I guess sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I hope I’m never left with naught but my posterior as a hidey-hole.

” my mom had tons of the Condensed Books.”

So did mine and I read most but she also uses the freezer for valuable. LOL!

After tonight I’m thinking the bottom of the kitchen trash can.

We were robbed when I was a kidlet. All the drawers in my parent’s room were pulled all the way out and on the ground. These guys were going for speed.

I don’t remember if they got anything but it did get us our first dog, Ginger. If we kids were playing in the backyard NO other adult was allowed in that yard except my parents. A “stranger danger” would never get us!!!

Use the kid’s or kitchen.

People kept asking why we didn’t hire someone to help us, but who could you hire to do that? Who could you trust?
My mother-in-law’s jewelry was the same, spread all over the house mixed among less important items. We never found her diamond earrings. The people who bought their house probably found some great stuff!

Gated property, always-home elderly Redneck neighbors, dogs, guns and a swamp. Mix and match to your satisfaction.

how bout not keeping anything of significant value in your home?

Rent a safe deposit box for those super pricey heirloom items and important papers.

I have nothing in my house that I would miss dearly or a thief would want except my 400 dollar tv and some guitars.

I need a new tv anyway.

Yes, I know. It grosses my husband out. We women have to put up with such visuals in public bathrooms, so we’re a little more immune, but not much.
