And, a LOT of the secrets are already known by our worst enemies and we know it and they know that we know it. Why can't those paying the bills know it?
That is why honest, intelligent, and well motivated people in government are vital.
No secrecy is as disastrous as illicit secrecy.
A government has to have certain powers to do its job of protecting the citizens. Those powers of course can also be used to harm citizens. Without those powers, there is a weak government that will quickly lead to anarchy, invasion by enemies, and takeover.
