Oh, to be 17 and indignant.

I once saw a 17 year old high school pitcher throw a meatball to a batter to hit a grand slam during a playoff game.

Then he yelled at the coach and just walked off the field.

Testosterone and adrenaline are magic chemicals that lead to young men just blowing up.

Good thing they get it out of their system while they are young and stupid.

You have to get all wage agreements in writing. There is no way a Walmart would have put anything like what you describe in writing. I don’t doubt they said it...just that they would never confirm it.

The Government decides what is full time. 32 hours at our place as well.

you can thank obamacare for the new “full” time rules. That is one of the features.

Actually, they weren’t going to get me without it. They wanted me because I had been in the retail business they use for many years before I went military. And I was Disney trained in customer service so I had a good amount of experience they liked. They wanted to hire me as an assistant manager but I turned it down. I had retired from the military and was more interested in doing a job more for fun than profit. My worth was my ego talking and my desire to get paid was based upon what I needed for the base line of my family and no more.

Where they took advantage is they didn’t care who I was or what I was going to do. They backed me, just like many others, into a corner of wages they wanted to use whether I argued with them or not. They just flat don’t care if you go after them. They will settle out of court, after they try to starve you out so you’ll just go away, and then you will no longer be with the company. They could care less. Paying you off for lost wages is peanuts to them and they can replace you with someone else in a heart beat. And at a much lower wage.

For about two months in January and February, I was allowed to upgrade the hours on my schedule myself to get them consistent with the deal that was made. Then at a point in March, I was told not to do that and my hours were cut. I mentioned they had made a commitment to me, and the answer was to take them to court. But because they had not cheated me out of money yet, my leaving would have constituted no lost wages. And after that treatment, I would no longer work for them so it was a wash. They got notice, I walked into another job much better than theirs, and the only time I say anything about them is negative. And they earned it fair and square.
