I have the rare gift of being completely indifferent to excess money, in my life or others. I’m not impressed. If I were to come into a multi-million windfall, I’d probably give half of it away to charity and still drive the same $15,000 car I bought 9 years ago. I just don’t relate to those who have to wear it on their sleeve.
Back during that billion dollar lottery ticket I was reading the various good and bad stories. (Yes - I bought $20 worth!)
Really sad some of the horror stories. One had the divorced husband killing himself. His wife died alone in her mansion, along with 12 starved cats. She was finally found something like a year later - nobody noticed.
The best stories were along the lines of “Herb and Alice took home $30 million. They bought new cars and got new carpet and a roof for their 1,400 sq. foot rambler. After taking care of their children and grandchildren with suitable accounts for housing and education, they donated $25 million for a new hospital wing, where Alice has volunteered for the last 18 years.”
