110 grain lead JHP is a vicious round in the M1.
Most of what I load is FMJ. But I have around 40 rounds loaded with Hornady 110 grain soft points I take up deer hunting to sling my carbine over my shoulder while doing things around our camp. Rare but occasionally a whitetail will appear out of nowhere in camp and I wouldn’t feel undergunned to take a close range shot with it.
