man - it’s been a looooong time since I’ve heard that....course our otto didn’t really do much NGFS - but when we did get a live fire opportunity we put more lbs on target in a shorter time then the 5 inchers.

Yes, an awakening is on the cusp. This Barr nomination hearing I am watching with interest is telling a a great story this morning.

Graham opened and discussed the lack of checks and balances to the full committee and other Republicans spoke of the disregard and disrespect the JD/FBI have displayed against congressional oversight and the need for replies and even a courteous response, at all, in more than a few cases.

Amazing information for the public to be finally get a waft of it from the mainstream media covering this nomination fully and LIVE without commercial breaks.

The dangers of the premier Law enforcement agencies to be permitted to actively work against a sitting president in a clandestine manner with no legal reason to investigate him is disabling to both parties and the Republic.

So much stuff.

Barr is so chatty, like a windy uncle at holiday dinner, that I’m not very convinced he is the man for the job. However, I’ve had several lengthy interruptions so if he is brilliant on the law, I’ve missed it.

He may be a seat warmer and ineffective. I hope I’m wrong on all counts! Graham is certainly loaded for bear.

It would most likely be done at the state level - a governor would remove a serving Congress person or there would be a recall election. I don't know about the history of such. Of course the Congress can refuse to seat an individual - as the Dems are doing now in the House.

I don't think the States have the ability to add new mechanisms to remove Senators or Congressmen, because the rules are set in the Constitution. It would require an amendment to change.

That is why we don't have term limits. Several States passed term limits in the 1980s, but the Supreme Court ruled they were unconstitutional because the "complete requirements" for the office are laid out in the Constitution, and States are not free to add more to them, nor to modify them.

Refusing to seat people is a method that has been used for keeping undesirables out of the Congress.

However it too was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1969 in the case of Adam Clayton Powerll.

Unseated members of the United States Congress

Both houses of the United States Congress have refused to seat new members based on Article I, Section 5 of the United States Constitution which states that, "Each House shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members, and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the attendance of absent members, in such manner, and under such penalties as each House may provide." This had been interpreted that members of the House of Representatives and of the Senate could refuse to recognize the election or appointment of a new representative or senator for any reason, often political heterodoxy or criminal record. Powell v. McCormack (1969) limited the powers of the Congress to refuse to seat an elected member to when the individual does not meet the specific constitutional requirements of age, citizenship or residency. From the decision by Chief Justice Earl Warren: "Therefore, we hold that, since Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., was duly elected by the voters of the 18th Congressional District of New York and was not ineligible to serve under any provision of the Constitution, the House was without power to exclude him from its membership."

Administration may explain this better, but here is my own experience with that question of yours.

I believe it may because your FR settings are set on “Everything”, which is an option offered on FR. This happened to me in the old days of the Religion Wars. I was messed up on the RELIGION thread showing up as news on the Main Page. I didn’t go to the RELIGION room on the sidebar, because it was already on the Main Page.

I had my settings on “EVERYTHING”.

I was making comments in the Religion room, because I thought it was straight news, on the Front Page and didn’t realize RELIGION is another compartment altogether, on FR.

This Q Thread is confined to the “Chat” Room, but it will show up on the Main Page, as News, if your Settings include the “Everything” option. *Everything* always includes all the compartments of subject matter.

We FRQ’s should probably be a caucus, given that our Thread seems to be divisive, but for some reason I don’t know about that is not an option.

Does this make sense?

Anyway, you might look at your settings and then you won’t see Chat Rooms, where you have to even see the Q Thread.

The US Air Force is Putting China on notice as it announced Friday a new deployment of three B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to Hawaii for training in the Pacific.

The nuclear-capable aircraft departed Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, and touched down at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, along with 200 support personnel airmen, as part of a U.S Strategic Command-led Bomber Task Force mission.

One defense analyst recently called the increase in B-2 bomber deployments to Hawaii “China’s nightmare, and something Beijing should get use to.”
