I am thinking of trying sweet potatoes this year. Does anyone know how they tolerate cool night time temperatures in the 45-50 degree range?

My favorite blueberry farm is shutting down this year. I’m sad, but I was able to buy two six-foot bushes from them and may be going back for more next weekend.

I transplanted them up against our fence, downhill from a stand of old pine trees to keep the soil the way they like it. And I may or may not have named them George and Barbara.

I got my growing assignment from Baker Creek this week. It does NOT conflict with anything I was hoping to grow. Woohoo!!!

My assignment is to grow 1600 eggplants. I’m not much of an eggplant person, I had to look up the details on how to save seeds from them. But it should be a fairly simple one. And now that I know what I’m growing, I can finalize my other garden plans.

I counted, and my list for this year is around 50 plants long. Most of them I’m only planting a small amount to try, although I am going to try again to grow 100 pounds of Magic Manna corn. Last year was so damp that most of the crop rotted on the stalk. Also trying for 100 pounds of Beefy Resilient Grex beans. Last year’s crop did really well, so I finally have enough seed stock to try for the larger amounts! If I can grow 100 pounds, Baker Creek might ask me to produce it for them, and they pay really well.

I’m looking forward to testing almost 30 new varieties this year!

And my chickens are looking forward to having that nice big field to play in :)

Hello all from Louisiana ! Spring is working its way to my area just above lake Ponchartrain as the grass is starting to come out of its slumber and I will witness a spring cycle for the first time here . It will be nice to see all of the wildlife and such as it warms up. I hope everyone on the thread is doing well and I look forward to reading (and learning) your posts about your happenings in your areas ! sincerely , John Brady (aka; mythenjoseph)
