Queen probably had the highest collective IQ in the history of rock music and you can get an idea of that by the way they have managed to keep themselves in the spotlight long after they should have been relegated to the discount bin at the local record shop.

YES, YOU’RE RIGHT.

Their lead guitarist, Brian May majored in Astrophysics in College even as the band was being formed.

And get this -— He eventually got his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007, and was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from 2008 to 2013.

He was a “science team collaborator” with NASA’s New Horizons Pluto mission. He is also a co-founder of the awareness campaign Asteroid Day. Asteroid 52665 Brianmay was named after him.

Bass Guitarist John Deacon (Who wrote the hit: ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST ), joined Queen in 1971 on the strength of his musical and electronic skills ( He majored in Electronics Engineering in college) particularly the home-made Deacy Amp which guitarist Brian May used to create guitar orchestras throughout Queen’s career.

And Drummer Roger Taylor went to London to study dentistry at the London Hospital Medical College but he became bored with dentistry. He changed to biology and obtained a BSc at East London Polytechnic.
