I wish we’d get the showers. We ALMOST got a rain last night, but we haven’t even had an inch since mid-December. :(
I hate to say it, but I heard y’all might get blizzard condiions in the next day or so. I hope that’s a bad rumor!
Oh Dear...The “Cone of Shame”.
Who Me?
It’s 70 right now.
Yay for you! Enjoy it. You and Penny deserve some pretty weather!
I love spring.
It is lovely when there are no sandstorms. That kind of ruins a pretty day. LOL!
Oh indeed.
Bible in a Year: 1 Samuel 79; Luke 9:1836
It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 One Saturday afternoon, some youth group members from my church gathered to ask one another some hard questions based on Philippians 2:34: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Some of the difficult queries included: How often do you take an interest in others? Would someone describe you as humble or proud? Why?
As I listened, I was encouraged by their honest answers. The teenagers agreed that its easy to acknowledge our shortcomings, but its hard to change, orfor that matterdesire to change. As one teen lamented, Selfishness is in my blood.
The desire to let go of our focus on self to serve others is only possible through Jesuss Spirit living in us. Thats why Paul reminded the Philippian church to reflect on what God had done and made possible for them. He had graciously adopted them, comforted them with His love, and given His Spirit to help them (Philippians 2:12). How could theyand werespond to such grace with anything less than humility?
Yes, God is the reason for us to change, and only He can change us. Because He gives us the desire and power to do what pleases him (v.13 nlt), we can focus less on ourselves and humbly serve others.
In what ways has God helped you turn from selfishness and be more willing to serve others? How does Jesuss humility inspire you to humbly serve?
A Prayer for Charity
Keep me, O God, from pettiness; let me be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let me be done with fault-finding and self-seeking. May I put away all pretense and meet everyone face to face without self-pity and without prejudice.
May I never be hasty in judgment and always generous. Let me take time for all things. Make me grow calm, serene and gentle. Teach me to put into action my better impulses, straightforward and unafraid. Grant that I may realize it is the little things of life that create differences and that in the big things of life we are one.
And, O Lord God, let me not forget to be kind!
Amen.

A Happy and Blessed Sunday here at Amy's Place, all!
Hope youre having a nice Sunday.
Spring rain here today.
Attended a womens retreat at church Saturday, a simulcast event by Priscilla Shirer. Last night a movie she starred in was on TV, The War Room. Id seen it in a theater back in 2015. Was nice to see the movie again.
Penny and I went on our first hike of the season today.
I chose a new trail near the North River, as I like to explore new places. This trail was only accessible by going deep into a neighborhood and parking on the street, so there was nobody else there. The trail was not very long, but was very easy, with some nice views of the river.
However, the constant roar of traffic on nearby Route 3 (the connector between Boston and Cape Cod) permeated the entire length of the trail. It spoiled it for me, and, in the future, I will choose trails that are further away from the main drag.
Penny didn’t seem to mind, but I did.
I have a similar dog walking path that is too close to traffic noise. Its safety away from the road but the roaring trucks wreck the walk.
Theres a state park near there that I should buy a yearly sticker for, and walk on their paths.
Have a good evening!
