After what the writers have done over the past few seasons, I figured the series would end with Daenerys angrily blocking everyone else on Instagram. D&D have destroyed this thing with awful writing. Dumb and Dumber.
Very disappointed. This whole season really appears rushed and badly written. Maybe they should have waited for GRRM to finish his books.
It’s a TV series everybody! Made in Hollywood!
Who really didn’t think they’d be disappointed?
I preferred not to give HBO my hard earned money.
Hey, they nuked the place. What’s not cool about that?
I don’t really mind the quick resolutions.
The Night King had broken through the wall at the end of last season. Winterfell wasn’t that far away. He was going to get there quickly. The war would start quickly, and it would be an all or nothing war. There was one way to win it, and that happened. Bran called it correctly.
The war between Cercei (Cercie?) and Daenarys also had to come pretty quickly. I couldn’t help notice that the dragon killing scorpions were virtually fixed with little maneuverability, reminiscent of the Maginot line. They were extremely vulnerable from the rear and flanks. So, when Drogon came from those directions, the enemy was fairly helpless.
What I won’t like is if they transition Daenarys from a fairly compassionate person to a crazed killer.
The only redemption of the story line is if Missandei’s “dracarys” pronouncement was actually a Sodom/Gomorrah type judgement and Daenarys realized it. The evil was so much a part of Kings Landing that destruction was the best option.
I’ll not be satisfied if it’s a quick easy, she’s bad, let’s kill her, etc. I’ll think that to be a betrayal of the entire story line and character that they’ve spent years putting together.
Hopefully, Jordan will write an alternative ending if they go with such foolishness.
IMHO, you can see the break between the George Martin material and the new storylines. GoT over the past season has moved away from the nasty, nut-cutting politics to increasingly rely on sword and sorcerer CGI. And Araya should have died a few times over last night. But changing Danys into a mad queen is actually a neat bit of character development.
Dany realized that King’s Landing was the heart of the “deep state”. It could never be saved, no matter how many Varus and Littlefingers she killed. Dany knows she herself has to die along with her dragon (the old world must pass) and her death will pave the way for a new world. I cannot wait for a prequel. It will write itself.
Martin has finished his book. Martin had given them an outline and they following what Martin had written.
I liked it.
I guess I must not be a Game of Thrones viewer.
If anything, theyve shown she had this tendency for a while. Those who did not see it did not want to see it.
- why was introducing wholesale slaughter in Mereen and Astapur a good idea? It killed a lot of people. Did it solve anything?
- Did everybody forget shes been wanting to sack and burn Kings Landing since she got to Westeros and it was only Tyrion and her other advisors who were restraining her?
- remember when she burned the Tarleys AFTER they had surrendered? Why was that necessary?
Clearly some viewers just wanted to hero worship. They wanted a flawless savior. Well guess what. Youre in the same position as the Germans in 1939. It turns out your savior is a bloodthirsty megalomaniac and its too late to remove her. Now youre stuck.
If anything, I thought it a great twist to the story and one that had been set up for quite a while.
I like how the show is ending but then again I am not a feminist. It seems the lesbians are upset Brienne of Tarth and Arya are not gay and the Queen going insane is too much of a disappointment for feminists.
Thier all mad Daenerys went full evil.. Personally I loved it because I never liked her character anyway I thought she was pretentious and self righteous from the get go
??????
It is a common lament of creative writers that endings are hard. The GOT writers took care to provide grace moments and goodbyes for many minor characters. The problem is that the looming showdown between Dany and Jon draws attention from other points of drama, which in turn seem pale diversions until that is resolved.
I just don’t care. I watched the first season and then lost interest. Maybe the dragon will kill everyone and be the king.
Benioff and Weiss will helm the next SW movie coming out in 2020 after SW Ep. 9. Yeah!
