"On the Cocos Keeling Islands, about 1,300 miles northwest of Australia,.."Not only is the title misleading, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands are located at the mouth of the Bay of Bengal, collecting trash from India, etc.

Youll have to admit, 1300 miles from Australia *is* pretty remote!

I hope they didn’t just count it, they should have picked it up while they were there.

“414 million pieces of trash found on remote islands near Australia, study finds” “lone vagabond split from Neanderthals 1.2 million years ago” Sounds familiar.

I just got back from Abaco in the Bahamas. Never saw so much plastic crap on a 7 mile beach in my life!!!!
It was awful. Washes in and out with regularity.
No one seems to care.
I am no greenie, but this was disgusting...right off GA/FLA shore facing the Atlantic, people should be incarcerated for putting all of that crap in the ocean.
Plastic is a horror show
