NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump, three of his children and the Trump Organization on Wednesday lost their bid to block Deutsche Bank AG and Capital One Financial Corp from providing financial records to Democratic lawmakers investigating Trump’s businesses.U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos ruled at a court hearing in New York that Congress has the legal authority to demand the records, clearing the way for the banks to comply with subpoenas issued to them by two U.S. House of Representatives committees last month. It was the second time this week that a judge had ruled against the Republican president in his fight with Democrats. Trump’s lawyers were expected to appeal both decisions. Ramos said he would not suspend his decision pending appeal.

Still trying to get my head around this all. Any documents produced by POTUS I understand are public record. But by what right can a Congressional body ask for his taxes or anything personal to DJT? If he were under CRIMINAL investigation by say a State office for something relating to his businesses then yes, there is a legal process that can and must be followed. But a legislating body? I might be naïve, but I am unsure how a Congress can demand anything of any private citizen whom is not a employee of government. Maybe I just don’t understand the constitution of the United States.

At least in a real court, there would at least be the pretense of a prosecutor being required to show cause to a judge before getting a subpoena, From Congress, it is just all politics and hate leading up to their own subpoena with no pretense of any neutral oversight.

President better be working on getting his enemies on the ropes or he will go down. No more silly tweets about ‘but but they did this’. The longer he leaves releasing damaging stuff on his opponents, the more it will look like political retaliation. He needs a mega change in the narrative to get dems on the defensive. The dems play hardball. If his financial records show evasion and too much creative accounting, he will bite the dust.

Here is interesting twist: Have the Senate chairmen subpoena Kagan, and Ginsburg financials to see if there is any monkey business. See what kind of reaction there is then.

With no stay pending appeal, though, this may be moot.
