There are growing demands for FIFA to consider using both male and female referees at future Women's World Cups after out-of-control Cameroon players were allowed to foul England players with impunity at the end of Sunday's round-of-16 tie.
Former England captain Faye White echoed the views of her ex-international team-mate Casey Stoney in arguing that there should be a mix of both, also insisting that the debate cuts two ways.
The men's game also had a part to play in allowing female involvement, raising refereeing levels before future tournaments to ensure they play a full and credible part.

If the lesbian soccer players cannot defend themselves against another group of lesbian soccer players, what makes them think a male referee can defend them?

Soccer is the greatest sport in the world.
Women's soccer ... still the greatest women's sport for them to play ... but not all that great to watch.
But if you are saying that soccer is pathetic, then sorry but there is a good chance that you are pathetic :-) It's not necessary to love soccer, but to think it is pathetic ... well like I said, that is kind of pathetic. If that's what you meant, sounds like you have a personal negativity problem and not really a problem with soccer.
I’ve watched a few games. What I have noticed is that the level of play is much better than it was 15-20 years ago.
The female referees are much too hesitant to issue yellow and red cards. Because of that, they are creating most of their own problems. In the last USA match against Spain, a Spanish defender did a sliding, studs up tackle on the side of the ankle of an American player. In the men’s game, that would have been an automatic yellow card. That same Spanish player should have gotten a yellow card on an earlier tackle.
Women refs from countries where the level of play is low should not be allowed to officiate the Women’s World Cup. And how can it be possible that no ref from England was selected for the WWC?
Some of the Cameroon players went way to far past the norms of expected behavior and should have been carded. That said, some of their complaints about the officiating were valid.
Actually, there aren’t all that many lesbian players in soccer. The U.S. has 2-3; especially Megan Rapinoe. USA Soccer should ordered her to behave and respect the flag, nation, and the President. They should have put her on notice and sent her home if she didn’t behave.
And a fake Hispanic and a fake Native American.
