I despise touchscreens.

That extends to today's vehicles. I was given a ride in a new Chevy Silverado this morning and the display screen was full of icons and such that likely give TOO much information to the driver so as to distract him. I drive a 2001 P/U that still has regular gauges and some warning lights that tell me the important things to know while driving.

“I despise touchscreens.”

So do I. The skin on my fingers to so dry, they are not seen by most touch screens. I have to use a conductive stylus if I want to make a phone call.

“I despise touchscreens.”

Ditto. First things I do with a new laptop is turn off the touchscreen and turn off the touchpad.

I despise touchscreens.

Particularly in cars/trucks. If the driver has to take eyes off the road to determine what state the controls are in and switch them to the state he desires, then the controls are badly designed. And many controls in cars from the last few years are badly designed. Touch screens almost guarantee this form of bad design.

Touch Screens in cars is a really dumb idea. Esp. some that go further and have added script recognition. It’s a serious distraction, thru several levels of menu selections; all I wand to do is turn down the audio volume!

Same - especially in cars.
One of the reasons I got a Mercedes is because they were “behind the curve for touchscreens” and use the “joystick” and other button method.

I notice my laptop touch pad doesn’t work if my hand is wet.

I wonder if these guys verified that their touch screens still work if the user’s hands are wet, bloody, covered in grease, or any of a number of conditions likely to be encountered in a combat situation.
