Back in 2005, not long after we moved into our current house, there was a hurricane, Dennis.

We thought we had moved into a rather mature neighborhood, since we saw no children of any ages playing in the streets around our neighborhood.

The electricity was off for several days and the streets were filled with children! No computers, no cellphones, no video games!

When the electricity came back on, they all disappeared again..............

I am somewhat encouraged by the fact that this summer I have noticed more children playing outdoors than I have for many, many years.

Had the same exact experience after Hurricane Sandy.

Scores of ghost white children in the neighborhood that I’ve never seen before holding out their cellphones in the street looking for service...
