Most of the so called Palestinians migrated from other countries, just as Yassir Arafat did. He was a native Egyptian, as many in Israel were. Also, most came from modern day Jordan, which was created by the Palestinian mandate. In all honesty, Israel was almost inhabitable until the Jews returned.
What unites Liberals and Muslims is that they both rewrite history to reinforce their goals of ideological supremacy. Any ideology based on lies is far from supreme, however.
So Palestinians are Canaanites, it really doesn’t matter what they call themselves. There have been indigenous people in the Holy Land before the Hebrews showed up, but the Hebrews did show up and have a continuous presence for at least 1500 years or so.
I am a huge supporter of Israel, the Palies need to reject hate, reject violence, and build their community.
I have no confidence in them no matter what they call themselves.
Great! At least we know now for certain what to do about the fakestinian problem -hou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee
The Palestinians are the Middle Easts homeless people, created by the same kind of governmental corruption that created them in our big cities. When destitute people become a political asset, there are always political forces that will make them so.
Cannaanites, huh? So then there are actually people worshiping Baal? Performing animal sacrifices? I wouldn’t think that Muslims of any era would want to be associated with that.
Only if they get circumcised :-)
Not to defend, but to be historically accurate, they were ALL once Canaanites before the Israelites invaded and division of tribes later. Historically the label Canaanites was already used for the indigenous of the whole Levant before they were divided and labeled with more modern tribal labeling later. So in reality they were originally Canaanites long before they were either Palestinians or the Kingdom of Israel.
“The Canaanites were people who lived in the land of Canaan, an area which according to ancient texts may have included parts of modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
Much of what scholars know about the Canaanites comes from records left by the people they came into contact with. Some of the most detailed surviving records come from the site of Amarna, in Egypt, and from the Hebrew Bible. Additional information comes from excavations of archaeological sites that the Canaanites are thought to have lived in.”
And if one wants to be true to Biblical records, it also reflects and supports this pre-Isrealite history of that area.
“The Canaanites are mentioned often in the Hebrew Bible. The stories say that god promised to give the land of the Canaanites (along with land belonging to several other groups) over to the Israelites after they escaped from Egypt.
In the stories, God tells Moses that “I have heard them [the Israelites] crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.” (Exodus 3:7)
The stories told in the Hebrew Bible say that after the Israelites escaped from Egypt they fought a series of wars against the Canaanites (and other groups), which led to the Israelites taking over most of the Canaanites’ land. The stories say that those Canaanites who survived had to do forced labor. The stories also say that this conquered land was incorporated into a powerful Israelite kingdom that eventually split in two.”
