I was talking about Dre more.

Kanye has gotten pretty convincing in his beliefs.

And it would be GREAT to pull some blacks from dems.

Kanye had the courage to even say ANYTHING positive or just NOT NEGATIVE about Trump.

In his circles, that’s blasphemy.

Though rappers like tough guys and Trump IS a tough guy.

More will see that and then they too will “see that light”

What's the down side?

Not a big rap fan but every Christmas, I give "Christmas in Hollis" by Run DMC at least one spin.

As I suspected, most of this is about reinventing, repackaging and grabbing an underserved market share.
And then I realized something else...
Maybe its always been this way with very popular musicians.
They acclimate and conform to the market at hand.

I was just listening to one of my favorite Baroque pieces;
Fireworks, by George Handel. Both Handel and JS Bach wrote many (thousands!of) pieces for their local church. This was WORK.

They just so happened to have been unusually talented, but they mainly wrote and performed music for the MONEY so that they could support their families or their favorite charities. Handel had no children, but donated to many schools and causes, while Johann S. Bach had 27 children.

My conclusion: Money makes the world go round!

So true-if it gets some millenials of any race/ethnicity away from democrat/socialist thinking and brings them to Jesus, it is a great thing...

This isn’t about pulling some “blacks from the Dems” this is about pulling souls from the gates of Hell.

A person may be successful at worldly music, and he/she may profess allegiance to Jesus, the Christ, but that doesn’t likely make one a Christian musician, capable of creating a score or lyrics acceptable to the Lord and His spiritual discerning worshipers.

Yes, he should focus on producing dreary 17th century-style hymns.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Translation - it’s very possible.

Yes, he should focus on producing dreary 17th century-style hymns.

For you to say that indicates that you don't grasp what Christian music is or what it is about, either.

Firstly, Spiritual music is based om the lyrics, he tune nor an instrument. Godly words come only to the person who is deeply aware of his own existence and the ability to think both abstractly, and beyond the moment.

Secondly, the lyricist must be aware of the existence of the Creative God of the Bible, and have a close persomal permanent relationship with Him.

And thirdly, the purpose of words is to demonstrate a clear, timeless agreeable consistent relationship to the everlasting revealed truth of the Holy Scriptures.

Fourthly, the purpose of the ltrics is to glorify and enrich the Lord, not the lyricist or composer.

Lastly, as one's knowledge of saving truth of the righteousness and love of God is freely received, so should it be freely given: "Freely ye have received, freely give." Christian music or any other effort is not about making money, especially scads of it. The whole "gospel music" industry is a sham and a scam, not on which any real promoter of God's work would in the past before radio, movies, and TV have recognized, let alone participate in.

Can the enterprise described in this article completely satisfy these criteria? I doubt it. What you have said also indicates that if indeed you are Spirit-born in Christ, at least you have not yet enough maturity to recognize what 17th, 18th, and 19th hymnology means to the post-Catholic universe of reformed Christianity, and the departure now of post-Christian "music" from it.

I agree

Regardless of what anyone thinks, Kanye got millions of people, Christian and non-Christian, to type “Jesus is King” into Google.

Philippians 2:10-11
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What a sanctimonious lecture, with which I agree on exactly zero points - most especially that you are in any way qualified to assess the “maturity” of my faith. And West already has more money than he can spend in 10 lifetimes.

Thanks for proving the point that was made. Whenver you, Kanye, and Dre are willing to sell all you have, give it to the poor, and then follow Jesus to learn His preferences in music, then I'll begin to take y'all as being real and humble and willing to learn, not phony and proud know-it-alls.

I live for the day I can impress you - after all, you know Jesus’ personal playlist! Your pontificating about humility is rich with irony.

What a sanctimonious lecture, with which I agree on exactly zero points - most especially that you are in any way qualified to assess the “maturity” of my faith.

From the well-known theologian and commentator, John Nelson Darby regarding popularmusic/instruments in Christian worship:

"Sketch of the Life and Labours of J. N. Darby"

"In point of fact artistic musicians as a general rule are not a moral class. The imagination is at work, not the conscience nor the heart. Judaism did take up nature, to see if they could have a religion of it; which proved it could not be but ended in the rejection of JEHOVAH and His anointed. We are dead and risen with CHRIST and belong to another world. Hence I cannot seek my enjoyment in what belongs to the old, though I may recognise GOD'S work in it; but I do not seek it as a world I belong to now. It is not a legal prohibition, but the heart elsewhere. If I could put a poor sick father to sleep with music, I would play the most beautiful I could find. But it only spoils any worship as bringing in the pleasure of sense into what ought to be the power of the SPIRIT of GOD. They cannot go really together, save as water may take away the taste of wine.

"It is a wholly false principle that natural gifts are a reason for using them. I may have amazing strength or speed in running; I knock a man down with one, and win a prize with another. Music may be a more refined thing; but the principle is the same.

"This point I believe to be now of all importance. Christians have lost peace and moral influence by bringing in nature and the world as harmless. All things are lawful to me. But, as I said, you cannot mix flesh and SPIRIT. We need all our energies under grace to walk in the latter, 'always bearing about in the body the dying of JESUS, that the life also of JESUS may be manifested in our mortal bodies.' Let CHRIST be all, and the eye is single and the 'whole body is full of light.' The converse is, if our eye be evil because it shuts out CHRIST, our affections are not set on things above where CHRIST sits at GOD'S right-hand. This is the point for us: happy affections there, and steadfastly, not being distracted."
Clearly stated. See Eph. 5:17-20; Col. 3:16.

I am not sure why you included me but you sound kind of self righteous bro and let’s leave it up to God to decide who he is going to use to reach people that HAVE NOT been reached.

ANYTHING without the words “b.tch” or “rape” or “kill” or “murder” or “crack” or “heroin” is an improvement over the thug life rap songs out there

Included you because of your Post #3, showing something less than a raving acceptance of moneyed modern "musicians" who are promoting their secular popularity that presumptuously advanced the cause of Christ by carnal means. And such responses also clear that a Biblical reproof draws replies that accuse the commenter as being judgmental without realizing that the finger-pointing shows themselves to be even more (and without warrant) self-righteous, but colored w with a carnal and snide twist.

Great job. guys! < /sarc >
