CT is not the way to test for this. I imagine we have been seeing cases all along that we thought were influenza. Now testing all people with influenza like illness and eg flu test so is suspect numbers will be increasing

I believe that China is using CT as the definitive test from something I read yesterday, but I can’t tell you what it was.

The CT scan is an “indicator” but not “proof.”

The broken glass thing looks funky as hell though. I hadn’t seen that before.

Agree that ground glass appearance on chest CT is not the definitive diagnostic test to determine if an individual is infected with a COVID-19. If however if a patient is seriously ill with respiratory impairment and a chest CT is performed, that ground glass infiltrate is almost pathognomonic of COVID 19 infection in the acute setting. CT chest scans are typically done in American ICUs in people who develop an acute pneumonitis wit respiratory impairment As the diagnostic kits become available numerous people will be diagnosed with CODID-19 “infection”. However not until there is a huge increase of chest CT’s with the ground glass infiltrates, the disease is not causing China and Korea type outbreaks in the United States.
